Food Stamp Data: April 2009
The April 2009 food stamp utilization data is out. Fully 10.1% of the Sacramento County population (and 7.1% state-wide) are now receiving food aid:
There's a good chance that this program will be cut back as a result of the budget crisis. Stay tuned.

Food Stamps are entirely funded by the federal government, so the state budget problems would have no impact. In fact, people who are Food Stamp eligible might be able to get a larger food stamp allocation. Of course, they couldn't pay rent, so they'd have no place to cook or store food...
